The Mustard Seed Cohort is a community of families who have accepted the call to raise up the next generation of Jesus followers. We want to stand alongside families to help resource and empower them to pass the Christian faith to their children. Read on to understand more about our values and mission.
We believe that parents and the extended family of the Church are best equipped to disciple our children. Rather than delegate the blessing and responsibility of discipling our children to another party, we believe children should be integrated into the household of God. Parents and the family of God need to be empowered and emboldened to disciple their children.
We want to help churches be welcoming to families. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me.” We want churches to be a place where the whole family of God, young and old, is able to encounter the risen Lord.
Sometimes children don’t have both or either parent. Sometimes children need to hear the same message their parents have told them from another person. Sometimes parents need help. We want to help both parents and children by establishing mentoring relationships that help both grow in their knowledge and love of God.
Every home has a set of rules and order. Where do the shoes go? What time is bedtime? Who prepares meals? In addition to the practical liturgy, we want to help parents integrate the faith throughout their homes.
The Great Commission wasn’t just for Jesus’ apostles, but for the whole family of God. Each of us in our own ways with our own gifting can contribute to this mission. We want to help families to participate in the mission of God by sharing Christ with others in word and deed.
All who have been baptized into Christ are members of his body. We want to help churches find ways to fully integrate children into the body of Christ.
